Build Brand Visibility

Simple steps to become a household name

When it comes to building a successful brand, visibility is key. If nobody knows your business exists, then how can they learn to love and trust your brand? By staying in the public eye and creating a positive public persona for your business, you can build a strong, trusting customer base. Try these three simple tips to put your brand in the spotlight:
  1. Be an expert. Customers and clients feel reassured when working with an expert in their field. Rather than wait for someone to deem you an expert, trust that the knowledge you've acquired over the years will help support your claims. Refer to yourself as an expert on your website bio and blog. For example, if you own a home decorating business, prove your expertise by writing articles for your website on the pros and cons of various fabrics. Customers will seek you out because of the respect they have for you and your brand.
  2. Use social media. Facebook and Twitter, for example, are free, easy to use, and have the potential to increase brand visibility. If your business has a large corporate audience, consider an account on LinkedIn, a business-oriented social networking site. Brand building through social media comes down to posting something of value every day to maintain high visibility for your business.
  3. Attend live events. For example, if you own an independent film company, attend as many independent film festivals as you can. Not only will you network with other experts in your field, you can use the events to open the lines of communication with your customers. Carry a camera and get your picture taken with speakers and guests, and then post those pictures on your website or social media sites. Tweet live from the event, or write about it after the fact in a newsletter or blog.
